Finbar and Jane : The Wedding

Finbar + Jane LRes (1 of 94)

You should have seen our eyes light up at the pre-wedding shoot when Jane told us she wasn’t wearing a long dress. We simultaneously did a double take. Yes, we do terribly annoying things like finishing each others’ sentences now too. We are spending waaaay too much time together as Fotissima. But anyways, we were so happy to finally have bride in a shorter dress. How long we’ve been waiting…and yes, it was worth it. Jane had a simple, yet super-chic elegance as close to Princess Grace as a girl could get. So many yummy photos from this wedding it took ages to pick a few faves for the blogissima.

Fair play to Jane for not minding when Lola asked her to sit on the ground. We promise the dress didn’t suffer. Kinda worth it. Not a very high percentage of the brides passing through Dromoland will have tried it we’d hazard a guess. Walled gardens can be a bit stuffy and traditional if you let them.

Bad news girls – even Laboutins hurt your feet after a while. Tsk. Kuh. Not good Monsieur Christian. Nice present from husband-to-be though…*hint hint* men.

Cloonacauneen Castle with Edel + Jonathan

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

We seemed to have travelled to photograph cool weddings in castles up and down the country but this was our first time in nearby Cloonacauneen Castle, which is only a few miles from our hometown Tuam, in Co. Galway. Funnily enough we were to be there the following week again with Catherine and Dave. Isn’t it always the way! ‘Tis lovely in there. All cosy and castley like. Nice.

This is the Bridal Suite. Look at that for a four poster. Sumptuous velvety fabric fit for a queen we tells ye and doesn’t Edel look quite at home there all the same. This is one of our favourites from the day. Gorgeous.

Mind you Jonathan scrubbed up rather well himself on the day…

The page boys were awful cute…

…and as for the littlest fella! Naaaaw. The way the boys took such care of him up the aisle was adorable altogether.

GO-ing to the CA-stle, and they’re, GO-ing to get MA-a-A-ried

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

Armed with our AA route planner we hit the road for for Kilronan Castle, Co. Roscommon. So…Market Street…in Tuam? We couldn’t be lost already…why can’t they just say ‘The Square’?! Continue forward onto Bishop Street? Ah that’s easy…and we’re off.

We can report that many’s the sat nav got befuddled along the twisting turning winding roads of Galway and…Roscommon, passing through little towns like Cloonfad and Garranlahan…and less familiar ones like Lisserdrea and Knockvicar (Le trou du cou du monde quoi or what). We only took a small detour through Ballaghadereen. Not too bad (for headless chickens).

So, we left a little early to check out possible locations for Caroline and Barry’s wedding photos. We stopped just before the castle at the edge of the lake and hopped  out of the car for a sconce. Lovely little pier. Castle in the distance. Tall reeds, swans, not so much as a ripple on the water and even some blue sky. We could practically see the canvas on Caroline and Barry’s wall out in Marley. Beautiful.

Best laid plans of Mice and Men…and Women.

Yes yes. It was going to be fabulous. Time for breakfast. We do love our fry on the morning of a wedding…tis a long day as the man says. Now. Time to go see how the girls are getting on.

Ooooo. Bridal suite complete with four poster and all  kinds of loveliness. Great. Jennifer Carney on make-up duty, even better. Go Jenn! Perfect. What could possibly go wrong?! Well! Out of the corner of our eye…surely that was somebody power-hosing the windows?! Nope. That was actually DRIVING rain pelting against the panes. U-oh. Honest-to-God, the weather couldn’t possibly have been any worse.

How and ever! If we do say so ourselves, you can’t tell from these photos what was going on with the wind and the rain outside the walls of the castle. Everyone had a fabulous day and Caroline & Barry fit in quite perfectly to the sumptuous setting. We are so looking forward to seeing the album. It’s going to be gorgggge.
