Ruby got a new puppy. Her name is Riley. They are bestest friends in the whole wide world….

Megan goes to the same school as my young fella. She’s also his cousin and he thinks she’s great. And of course, he’s right. She is great! But when Megan started school, there was already a Megan in his classroom, so when he talked about her he referred to her as ‘little’ Megan and I can’t seem to stop myself calling her that now too, even though she’s not quite so little any more. Here’s a few pics we took with Megan and her family the other day…

This is Lily, Megan’s cocker spaniel, who’s nearly as cute as her owner…but not quite.

Oisin is all grown up now, off to secondary school in September. Best of luck Oisin.

The Nestor clan; the perfect mixture of Ireland and Norway (ya did good there Beano!).

I hope you have a fabulous time in France this summer Sophie, you lucky thing. Wish i was going. Ye have fierce cool uncles in that family altogether so ye do!

There is a debate as to whether Sammy the spaniel belongs to Oisin or his mam but Oisin does a great job training him, with a little help from Uncle Noel. (Noel – i’m available to take photos of those boxers any time btw!)

What could be a better present than your very own puppy to buy yourself with your communion money? Can’t think of one…Great choice Megan!

A quick change and off to Abbeyknockmoy with us for a few special photos of Megan in her communion dress. Well, not a terribly quick change but hey, choice of shoes is very important to us girls, right Megan?

As Lily grabs the lead we wondered who was walking who. Cute. I think this is my favourite of the day.

I brought my young assistant on the shoot with me but he spent more time trying to get INTO the photos than assisting…i may have to review his contract

Thanks to all the Nestors and especially ‘little’ Megan for being such a great family to photograph. Maj x
Did we ever tell ye that we love dogs? We did? Oh. Ok. Well, we’re telling ye again then…we do love ‘em, so we do. Cats…not so much. No offense cat lovers.

This is ‘Suzy’, an adorable springer spaniel who came along on a family shoot last year. She’s waiting for a stick to be thrown into the water. Suzy loves to swim.

This is ‘Lita Dogeen’, the most loyal little terrier companion anyone could wish for. On Sunday, poor old Lita went off to the Happy Hunting Ground where dogeens go after they leave us. Hope there’s loads of rabbits and stuff up there for chasing Lita. Go get ‘em girl!

And this is the mighty ‘Kuno’ who was rescued from Madra. As you can see, he landed on his feet paws in his new home. Happy doggy days. They do fantastic work at Madra by the way. Google them if you’ve got some doggy love to give.
Then there’s Maj, who loves dogeens sooooo much that she actually went out and bought one. Imagine. Now, Lola did warn her that dogs are not just for Christmas (or just for taking photos of!). But did Maj listen? Of course not. Stubborn Maj went and bought one anyway. Not just any dog either. Oh no. She couldn’t have bought a nice, quiet, chilled-out Labrador could she? Not at all. She had to get a Hungarian Vizsla. Nothing else would do her.

And so arrived Peig. Altogether now…Naaaaaw!

Doesn’t she look like the picture of canine cuteness?

Ha! Don’t be fooled by those puppy dog eyes and cutesy ears people. She is…how can we put this, erm…an…”experience”. Still. Nobody could ever say she lacks personality. Hmmm. That’s a good thing…right?

However. She does photograph rather fabulously (even in fancy dress!). Ok. Don’t hate me for the santa suit. Let’s just put it down to a moment of madness *ahem*.

She LOVES people. Like seriously loves people. Her affectionate nature can be a wee bit over powering at times but it’s hard to fault her for that. She is relentless in her attempts to wriggle her way onto your lap. In her head there is no doubt whatsoever that she is a lapdog. She even loves the vet! No, really, she does. Well it would be hard not to like Tom Rennick. He’s the bestest vet ever (seriously, ask Peig). Anybody around the Tuam area who’s looking for a good one, we couldn’t recommend him highly enough.

The Vizsla is often referred to as the “velcro” dog as they want to be close to their humans all the time. That can be endearing…mostly. The “Ginger Ninja” is another term which suits them rather well we think. Peig loves to run. Bringing her for a “walk” wouldn’t really satisfy her energy levels. She needs to run. A lot. So if you don’t have an active lifestyle or live in a city, do not get a Vizsla. If you do love the outdoors though, then they are an excellent companion and a joy to watch. They’re so athletic and elegant in their movements.

Ideally they should be made to do what they were bred for, which is to be a working gundog. Maj doesn’t have her gun license though (yet). However, as Lola was quick to point out, she does have Hunter wellies! Mind you that probably doesn’t count…

If you like to play fetch with your dog, you won’t find a keener “fetcher”. Peig adores bringing things back to you. She’ll race enthusiastically back and forth after anything you care to throw.

Non dog-lovers just wouldn’t get it that you might want nice photos of your dog. And that you might even bring in a professional to take some! But *ssshhhhhh* we won’t tell them. We just wanted you to know that we think that’s a perfectly cool thing to do. In case ye ever wondered like.

Drive the tractor?

Run? A lot…

Pull funny faces…

Dance?

Climb?

Explore?

Jump?

Play on the beach?

Let the dog lick their face?

Or maybe…laugh out loud?
All of the above? U-huh. Of course they do. And a whole lot more besides.
Isn’t that how you’d like to remember them in years to come? Isn’t that how they would like to remember themselves for that matter? We think so. That’s why they are the kind of photos we like to take.
We spend the first half an hour of our family adventure shoots just trying to get behind those cheesy grins all kids are trained to pull every time they are put in front of a camera.
When they just forget about the photos and have fun, that’s when the cool photos happen. That isn’t just true for the young ‘uns either. The pictures us grown ups usually like of ourselves are the ones where we are laughing and not thinking about what we look like at all at all.
Email us if you want to be captured just being yourself. No posing skills necessary.

On a personal note; being the one always behind the camera, it struck me recently that i was writing myself out of the photographic story of my little (not so little really any more) boy growing up. Now, if you think YOU don’t like being in front of the camera, I can confide in you that it’s probably not HALF as bad as the reluctance of the photographer to be the photographee.
However. I’m trying to put this aside. I’ve taken to passing the camera to somebody else to take at least one photo of me with the young fella. I want to be part of the story. The photos are going to be important for me to look back and remember that story. And who knows…maybe even more meaningful still for generations to come. (Maj)
You can’t beat capturing a happy moment in time…It does the heart good, so it does. Escape the studio with Fotissima and make some time to freeze some moments in your life. It doesn’t hurt at all, swear. In fact, ’tis actually a bit of craic. Go on. We dares ye!

So. Get yer wellies on (or your pink docs!). Jump in puddles. Climb a mountain. Be yourself. Ignore the camera and put away your *photoface*. Relax. Let us do the work.

The cool thing about Claire is that she is completely unaware of how gorgeous she is. That’s what makes her our kinda gal. When she sees herself in some of these photos she is going to be blown away (hurry back from them foreign parts girl)…we just know she is. C’mon like, just look at them big brown eyes! Shane compliments Claire perfectly in his quiet, strong way. Their day was classy while avoiding any fuss or hype. Little things mean a lot. Sometimes we are all guilty of forgetting that. Aaaaand… *bonus* …We even managed to call Claire: ‘Claire’ and Roisin: ‘Roisin’ on the day. Pheee-ew! (Roisin being the cute dawg for those of ye who missed that one)

The talented Caroline at the Mac counter in Brown Thomas did the make-up. Lovin’ the earrings there Caroline!

Rock Chick. Or what. Here’s a few of our favourites from a recent ‘Rock the Frock’ session with Suzanne.

Alisha and Louis even came along for a while and really added to the whole experience.

We had a surreal moment where Louis played the saxophone on the tracks. Deadly.

Not to mention Ernie the Boxer. What a face for photographing! Cuteness.

So, if you’ve got an auld Frock girls and you feel like Rocking it a biteen. Drop us an email.
Come on. Rock it. Yes. You can!
(No terms or conditions apply ladies. People without husbands who play musical instruments, a shockin’ cute dog or gorgeous, trendy kids are also welcome to email with their enquiry
)
As we waited for Claire & Shane to arrive for their pre-wedding shoot we kind of wistfully remarked how cute the dogs were on our previous shoot and wasn’t it a shame there wasn’t any doggies today. Well! What did we promptly see popping its head up at the back of the approaching Jeep only Roisín the Labrador. Deadly.

Originally Claire & Shane’s wedding was scheduled to go ahead in Inis Oirr (the smallest of the Aran Islands, for those of you who don’t know). Quite partial as we are to an island wedding – in spite of nearly getting blown off the edge of Inisbofin last time we were there- we were looking forward to this little adventure.
When we first met them, Shane had himself a stripey top on and we (of the over active imaginations) we already envisioning swashbuckling pirate wedding theme complete with shipwrecks and everything (yeah, sorry shane, we know we never actually told you this out loud hehe). Still though, now that we’re going to be on the mainland, we couldn’t actually be going to a better spot because we’ll still have the sea beside us out there in Barna, and tracking down an auld boat or two isn’t beyond the realms of possibility for us either. There is also the added bonus of no sea-sick nightmare return voyage the morning after the wedding for the photographers…euw, flashback!
We went to Tuam’s old railway station again for this set of pics. What on *earth* are we going to do when they open that line again we do ask ourselves, eek?! It suited Claire and Shane’s funky style perfectly and we were only slightly mortified every time we called Claire ‘Roisin’ by mistake, so often were we calling the dog the get her attention. Oops. Sorry Claire. So long as we don’t let it slip on the day of the wedding ’twill be grand!
It was a lovely chilled-out shoot and we know that’s the way the wedding’s going to be too with this cool couple. Thanks you two.

You Tuam people may be forgiven for not recognising the ‘Brendan’ above, but if we said ‘Squig’ we’re sure you’ll know him all too well. Hardly the shy retiring type about the town like- ah Squig, you know we mean that in the nicest possible way! So anyways, he’s getting married to the beautiful Sophy soon and we took a few pics to get them used to us and our cameras.

Have we waxed lyrical before about our Pre-Wedding shoots? Probably. But let’s just give ye all a quick reminder in any case shall we, coz we can’t resist it. We do this with all our couples. Yes, they often try to wriggle out of it and almost all arrive in an apprehensive lather about the whole thing, but we stick to our guns and put them through it all the same. Yes. We’re cruel. But you have to be cruel to be kind you know. You do. At the end of it (the torturous ordeal doncha know *ahem*) they all, without exception, agree that it actually ‘wasn’t that bad’ and even ‘a bit of craic’ so that by the time the wedding rolls around they don’t take a bit of notice of us and our cameras. This means they have relaxed happy faces in the photos and THIS is what we want. We don’t want to see your ‘photo face’. You don’t either. That’s the face you’ve been putting on since forever to any camera pointed in your direction, and that’s the very reason you dread getting your photo taken in the first place. Your *actual* face is sooo much nicer. That’s the one we’re looking for. Also, some of the best photos are the ones where you’re not even looking at the camera at all. So relax. It’s quite painless we can assure you.Oh! Did we mention too that we love dogs? Oh yes. In fact we’ve had so many couples now who’ve brought the dog(s) along that we were thinking of making it a prerequisite for any further wedding enquiries: *don’t ask unless you are a dog owner* sorta thing. Never get away with it? Probably not. But we do love them dogs all the same! Squig brought along the ‘Ted’ the Terrier and Sophy brought ‘Fleur’ and ‘Monty’- her short-haired mini daschunds – gorrrrgeous. Too cute the way they’d both sit up on her lap. Loved ‘em. Oh, and Fleur even wore a touch of pink collar-bling for the occasion too. Our kinda dawg. Naaaw.
