Sandra Gillen became a fan of our Facebook page and innocently remarked one day that she loved our photography so much, it made her feel like taking the wedding dress out and doing it all again, but in a much funkier fashion. Whooosh. We were all over it. Music to our ears a chailín. What are you waiting for?! Get it ON!
So. Take away the pressures of the wedding day and add Lola & Maj’s styling techniques extraordinaire and *voilà!* you get yourself a fabulous ‘Rock The Frock’ session and a set of the coolest photos you never thought possible. You might even have a bit of craic in the process…it has been known to happen.
Sandra is gorgeous. She got married a few years ago and is quite the busy lady with four small children and a budding Make Up Artistry business-she did her own make-up for the shoot btw; check it OUT; www.skelliemakeup.com. Sandra was game for a laugh and was so patient with us as we made her try out a whole range of different looks to find the perfect ones. Our personal favourite is the ‘Madame Bridget’ look (as coined by Sandra herself when she collapsed laughing at herself in the mirror hehehe!) with the little blue socks and Kurt Geiger shoes. High fashion or WHA’! We think these photos would be at home on the cover of any magazine (ah, well, now come on, not ‘Horse and Hound’ or anything but ye know what we mean). Work it Sandy, we do love these pics!
We chose a location for the photos that you certainly couldn’t set foot in on the ‘real’ day. Gruuun-geeey. We even ventured up the rather dodgy ladder, conscious that we may not be actually able to get back down again without professional help. 999/ Fire Brigade/Speed dial…Just in case. Ah sure, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Thanks to the young fella who told us about this secret location when we were doing our research…some of you reading this actually visit this spot on a regular basis we suspect, but don’t worry lads, the secret’s safe with us, and ye’ve made it so cosy…em…in a filthy dirty sort of way like!
It does take a bit of time to create a beautiful set of images such as these but we believe that they are worth every minute of it. Time is something that is in short supply on the ‘Big Day’ though, so why not treat yourself to a ‘Rock The Frock’ session, where it can be all about the photos, and the wedding day can be all about everything else…
