It's not all about skill with the camera, although that's important, it's about creativity and the connections you make with people. It's more than knowing which buttons to press. Helmut Newton said "My job as a portrait photographer is to seduce, amuse and entertain." He wasn't wrong. My background in Drama and the years of teaching have helped make me a better photographer. The fun, funky and the fabulous in people sometimes needs a little help to come out in front of the camera. Oh yeah baby.

I simply LOVE taking photos. I am constantly looking forward to the next one. The anticipation truly exhilarates me. I never get tired of imagining how i can create even better images. The possibilities are fabulously endless and endlessly fabulous.

I have travelled a long road before finally arriving at Fotissima, but it is everything i never knew i always wanted.

I was a 'Pres' girl in Tuam before off I went down to UCC to study languages. A Higher Diploma in Education came next, then a Masters in Drama Studies. Hmmm, what to do now...Teach? Sure, alright. Why not.

Art was my favourite subject at school and I was never happier than when I was drawing. Taking photos and creating images with the camera was the next best thing. My camera came everywhere with me (much to my friends and colleagues annoyance sometimes, I have to tell you).

I could never get enough photography courses, books, magazines and DVDs. I have done training courses with some of the top wedding and social photographers in the UK, whose work i have long admired. Anytime i can afford to, i go take another course (...and sometimes even when i can't!). For me it is not about imitating somebody else's style though, it is, rather, taking little gems of inspiration from all the artists you are smitten with, and creating something that is unique to you. I like to think i will never be finished learning.
